HVAC & Solar Training for Australia & NZ — ARCtick-Aligned Lab Practice

Graded diagnostic labs that support ARCtick refrigerant handling licence preparation and Certificate III UEE32225 competencies — the same decision sequence real service work demands.

We do not issue ARCtick licences, Cert III qualifications, CEC/SAA accreditation, or state electrical licences. The ARC, RTOs and state regulators issue those. We prepare you for the skills their assessments test.

  • Interactive decision labs
  • Built by working technicians
  • Path-based verifiable certificate

Exam preparation

Preparing for the Australia & New Zealand exams?

Prepares the diagnostic judgment and refrigerant-handling decisions that sit beside ARCtick refrigerant handling licence preparation and Certificate III UEE32225 competencies, as mapped on the Australia & NZ alignment page. We do not issue ARCtick licences or Cert III qualifications.

Professional refresher

Already working in Australia & New Zealand?

Same labs, tighter time, fewer hints — score against this region. Practising technicians, service managers and energy professionals on 230/400 V 50 Hz residential, commercial RAC and rooftop plant.

Start refresher — stay sharp on the job

Our job is that you walk into their assessment prepared to pass with flying colours. Their job is to issue the credential if you meet their standard. We do not sit or issue that exam. Prepare for the ARCtick pathway and Cert III fault-finding on 230/400 V.

Academy scores are training only. We do not issue the credential — The ARC, RTOs and state regulators issue the credentials. Academy completion is not authorisation to work.

Supply, frequency, and conversions

Single-phase
230 V a.c. nominal (historically 240 V — teach 230 V)
Three-phase
400 V (230 V L-N)
Frequency
50 Hz only
Code
AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules)
Conductors
mm²
Units
°C, kPa/bar, kg. mm² conductors. 50 Hz only.

Temperature is measured in degrees Celsius. Gauges, ambients, and exam items on this track are °C, not Fahrenheit.

Conversion strip — reference only

Supply: V / HzTemperature: °C ↔ °FPressure: kPa ↔ bar ↔ psigMass: kg ↔ lbConductors: mm² ↔ AWG

Working decision values stay in this region's units — the strip is for translating charts and kit from elsewhere.

Marked wrong in labs

  • Treating the supply as 120 V or 60 Hz
  • Charging in pounds without converting to kilograms

ARCtick prep — what we prepare

The ARCtick licence types are different instruments, and we keep them distinct:

  • RAC01 (full licence) pairs with Certificate III UEE32225 — the broad refrigerant-handling pathway.
  • RSS03 / UEE20120 restricted and split-system pathways cover narrower scopes — Cert II does not collapse into Cert III.
  • RDR04 and trainee licences (TL000) are supervised, entry-level pathways with their own conditions.

Split-system diagnostic skills (not an installation licence)

230/400 V, 50 Hz skills practice: fault-finding, measurement and safe-handling decisions on the equipment you will actually see.

What this region requires

The bodies that actually issue credentials in this market — and exactly what they issue. Always verify current requirements with the authority before applying.

Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC)
Issues ARCtick refrigerant handling licences and administers the Codes of Practice 2025. The full RAC01 licence covers all refrigerant work; restricted and trainee licences are narrower.
Issues: ARCtick licences (RAC01, restricted/split system, trainee)
TAFEs and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs)
Deliver Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (UEE32225) — the prerequisite qualification for the full RAC01 licence.
Issues: Certificate III UEE32225
Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) / OTSR
Skills assessment pathway for overseas-trained technicians seeking Australian licensing, including the Offshore Technical Skills Record.
Issues: Skills assessments and OTSR — not a training course
Clean Energy Regulator & state electrical regulators
Solar PV installation requires CEC accreditation (transitioning to Solar Accreditation Australia) plus a state electrical licence. In New Zealand, the Electrical Workers Registration Board licenses electrical work and NZQA registers qualifications.
Issues: CEC/SAA accreditation and electrical licences — a separate scheme from RAC credentials

Labs that already transfer

Every graded lab in the library teaches jurisdiction-neutral diagnostic method — physics, measurement and decision sequence travel across borders. Free labs are playable now without an account; the rest open with HVAC Technical Training — Paths A–D.

Gaps we are filling next

  • A2L / low-GWP refrigerant depth — more labs covering flammable and low-GWP refrigerant handling beyond the current safe-handling decisions.
  • Commercial refrigeration & RTU labs — the commercial library is growing; rack and CO2 work beyond the current labs is not covered yet.
  • Commissioning & documentation — more start-up, handover and documentation scenarios beyond the RTU first start-up lab.

Which ARCtick licence type?

The full RAC01 licence covers all refrigerant handling. Restricted (split-system) licences cover installation work only. Trainee licences require supervision by a full licence holder. The Academy supports knowledge preparation for all three levels — the practical and licensing requirements sit with the ARC and your RTO.

Training scope and safety

  • The Academy provides technical training and instructional scenarios only.
  • Completion does not constitute a professional license, electrical certification, or authorization to work on live electrical systems.
  • Work on photovoltaic, battery, and electrical systems involves potentially lethal voltages and must only be performed by qualified persons, in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and employer safety programs.
  • Labs and materials are educational. The technician and their employer remain solely responsible for safe work practices, isolation, PPE, and compliance on actual jobs.
  • EcoPowerHub AI / EcoService OS makes no warranty that completion of this training guarantees safe or correct field performance.
