Solar technician training that grades the decision, not the definition
The Solar Service Technician track builds the judgment a solar field technician is actually paid for: isolate energy safely, commission to spec, and diagnose live PV, storage and hybrid systems without replacing parts in sequence.
Trained on decisions, not slides
Every module opens on a job you would actually be sent to, with the symptoms and constraints you would really face. You commit to a call and it gets marked.
Graded field labs
30 labs across safety, diagnosis, sequence and checklist work. Each submission returns the evidence that mattered and the trap that could have misled you.
A capstone you can fail
One continuous 10.2 kW hybrid scenario with forced gates. A safety failure resets the stage — the same standard the work itself applies.
Four subject areas, sixteen graded modules
The track is one continuous sequence. These pages group it the way technicians think about the work.
Solar Installation
Installation work is judged on what happens after the crew leaves: whether the array performs, whether the terminations hold, and whether the paperwork stands up. These modules build the sequence discipline and site judgment that separate a system that passes inspection from one that keeps producing service calls.
4 modules →Solar Maintenance
Maintenance is where a solar fleet either holds its output or quietly loses it. These modules cover reading monitoring data properly, taking measurements that actually mean something, running a professional service visit end to end, and closing the job with documentation that protects the warranty position.
5 modules →Solar Troubleshooting
Most solar callbacks are not caused by hard-to-find faults. They are caused by the wrong first check. These modules build a triage order that finds the common faults fast, then teaches the multi-symptom logic needed when the obvious answer is wrong.
5 modules →Solar Safety
A PV array cannot be switched off. Storage holds energy after the disconnect. Safety on solar work is a sequence problem, not a poster on the wall — and it is the one area where the Academy grades pass or fail with no partial credit.
2 modules →What a graduate can do
- Walk a roof and a service panel and describe the whole system before touching a tool
- Run a site survey that the design team can actually build from
- Isolate DC, AC and battery energy safely, every time, with the right PPE and LOTO
- Commission a system to spec and prove it with measured, condition-corrected numbers
- Triage the faults that generate most service calls inside the first fifteen minutes
- Isolate advanced multi-symptom faults without shotgun parts replacement
- Run a professional service call from arrival to verified handover
- Close solar jobs cleanly in EcoService OS with defensible documentation
- Pass a full four-stage field assessment on a live hybrid system scenario

The Future of Solar Training in 2026 and Beyond
Hardware cycles are shorter than training cycles. What that means for how solar technicians will actually be taught over the next five years.

Frequently asked
- Who is the Solar Training Academy for?
- Field technicians, service engineers and crew leads working on residential and light-commercial solar, storage and hybrid systems — from people entering the trade to experienced technicians keeping current.
- Is it self-paced?
- Yes. There are no cohort start dates and no drip schedule. The sixteen modules are designed to be worked in order at whatever pace fits a working week.
- What do I get at the end?
- An EcoPowerHub Academy Certificate of Completion for the Solar Service Technician track. It is a training record, not a licence or a regulatory credential.
- Is there free access for employees?
- A limited number of free training passes are issued directly by the EcoPowerHub owner. They are not self-serve and cannot be granted by company admins.
Training scope and safety
- The Academy provides technical training and instructional scenarios only.
- Completion does not constitute a professional license, electrical certification, or authorization to work on live electrical systems.
- Work on photovoltaic, battery, and electrical systems involves potentially lethal voltages and must only be performed by qualified persons, in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and employer safety programs.
- Labs and materials are educational. The technician and their employer remain solely responsible for safe work practices, isolation, PPE, and compliance on actual jobs.
- EcoPowerHub AI / EcoService OS makes no warranty that completion of this training guarantees safe or correct field performance.
