- Refrigerant handling certification for technicians who open a sealed system.
- Issues: EPA 608 Type I, II, III and Universal certification, issued through EPA-approved test proctors.
- NATE
- Voluntary technician knowledge certification across specialties.
- Issues: NATE Core and specialty certificates, issued through NATE-approved testing organisations.
- State and local AHJ
- Contractor licensing, permits and mechanical code enforcement (IMC / NEC references).
- Issues: Contractor and journeyman licences, issued by state or local authorities.
