Residential HVAC Service & Diagnostics

Diagnose residential air conditioning, heat pumps and furnaces the way the work is actually done — one decision at a time, coaching on wrong turns, and no finish until the root cause is confirmed and the repair is verified with numbers.

  • Interactive decision labs
  • Built by working technicians
  • Path-based verifiable certificate
  • Exam preparation only
  • Worldwide online

Who this is for

  • New technicians who can do the tasks but freeze when the call does not match the manual
  • Helpers and apprentices moving into their own truck
  • Career-changers entering HVAC from another trade
  • Owners and supervisors who need one consistent diagnostic standard across the crew

What you will be able to do

  • Prove the call, the power and the safety chain before condemning any component
  • Use a multimeter with intent rather than as a last resort
  • Diagnose a residential no-cool call systematically to a confirmed root cause
  • Diagnose gas furnace ignition and flame-proving faults
  • Recognise airflow and duct problems behind refrigeration-looking symptoms
  • Handle A2L refrigerants safely and document the verification cleanly

Certificate

Certified Residential HVAC Diagnostic Technician

On completion of the required modules and labs you receive a path-based, permanently verifiable EcoPowerHub Academy certificate. This is a diagnostic-competency certificate. It is a supplement to, not a replacement for, any official refrigerant-handling or trade credential required in your region.

Certificate eligibility

To be eligible for the Certified Residential HVAC Diagnostic Technician certificate you must complete the required modules and pass the required decision labs.

  • Pass the residential no-cool decision lab
  • Pass the residential gas furnace no-heat decision lab
  • Pass the superheat / subcooling decision lab
  • Pass the frozen coil / airflow restriction decision lab
  • Pass the A2L safe-handling lab when released

A lab is passed when the root cause is confirmed, the repair or decision is verified, and no safety violation was recorded.

This certificate confirms demonstrated diagnostic competency inside EcoPowerHub Academy. It is not a statutory or refrigerant-handling credential and does not replace EPA 608 or any other credential required in your region.

Regional exam-prep notes

United States
Supports preparation for EPA 608 (Type II / Universal) and related NATE content. We do not issue the EPA or NATE credential.
South Africa
Aligns with safe-handling expectations under SAQCC Gas / SARACCA pathways. We prepare; SAQCC Gas issues the authorisation.
Kenya / East Africa
Supports good-servicing practice and RAC technician competence relevant to NITA / EPRA-adjacent work. Official authorisations remain with the relevant bodies.
India
Aligns with ESSCI RAC Service Technician (NSQF) and HPMP Good Servicing Practices orientation. ESSCI and the Ozone Cell issue official credentials.

Always verify current requirements with the authority in your jurisdiction.

Questions technicians ask

Is Path A open now?
The path is open with its first four modules and three free flagship labs live — no-cool, no-heat and frozen coil / airflow. Controls and the A2L module release next.
Do I need experience to start?
No. The shared foundation covers electrical fundamentals, multimeter use, the refrigeration cycle, tools and safety before the residential-specific modules.
Are the labs really free?
Yes. The no-cool, no-heat and frozen coil / airflow labs are public, playable without an account, and use the same grading standard as the paid path.
Does this issue EPA 608?
No. We provide exam preparation and certify diagnostic competency demonstrated in our labs.
