Path B

Commercial Refrigeration / RAC Technician

Diagnose walk-ins, ice machines, reach-ins and commercial refrigeration systems the way the work is actually done — forced decisions, coaching on wrong turns, and a confirmed root cause before you finish. Held to the same lab standard as the Solar Technical Training track.

  • Interactive decision labs
  • Built by working technicians
  • Path-based verifiable certificate
  • Exam preparation only
  • Worldwide online

Who this is for

  • Technicians moving from residential HVAC or appliance repair into commercial refrigeration
  • Service technicians who already handle walk-ins or ice machines and want systematic diagnostic judgment
  • Shop owners and supervisors who need a consistent training standard for commercial refrigeration calls
  • Career-changers who want the higher-skill, higher-value RAC niche

What you will be able to do

  • Systematically diagnose a walk-in that is not holding temperature
  • Isolate why an ice machine is not making ice
  • Apply superheat and subcooling to real sealed-system decisions
  • Recognise defrost faults and confirm the cause
  • Handle basic natural-refrigerant safety decisions (CO₂ / hydrocarbons)
  • Document the diagnosis and verification steps cleanly

Certificate

Certified Commercial Refrigeration / RAC Technician

On completion of the required modules and labs you receive a path-based, permanently verifiable EcoPowerHub Academy certificate. This is a diagnostic-competency certificate. It is a supplement to, not a replacement for, any official refrigerant-handling or trade credential required in your region.

Regional exam-prep notes

United States
Supports preparation for EPA 608 (Type II / Universal) and related NATE content. We do not issue the EPA or NATE credential.
South Africa
Aligns with safe-handling expectations under SAQCC Gas / SARACCA pathways. We prepare; SAQCC Gas issues the authorisation.
Kenya / East Africa
Supports good-servicing practice and RAC technician competence relevant to NITA / EPRA-adjacent work. Official authorisations remain with the relevant bodies.
India
Aligns with ESSCI RAC Service Technician (NSQF) and HPMP Good Servicing Practices orientation. ESSCI and the Ozone Cell issue official credentials.

Always verify current requirements with the authority in your jurisdiction.

Questions technicians ask

Do you issue the official EPA 608 or equivalent credential?
No. We provide exam preparation and certify diagnostic competency demonstrated in our labs.
Are the two flagship labs really free?
Yes. They are public, playable without an account, and designed to show the standard used in the full path.
How long does the path take?
Most learners complete the core modules and labs part-time over several weeks. It is self-paced.
Is this only for experienced technicians?
No. The path assumes basic electrical and refrigeration-cycle knowledge (available in the shared foundation) and then builds commercial refrigeration judgment.
