Who governs the work, and what this track builds toward it

Read this as the honest version: what each authority actually requires, and which part of the curriculum prepares you for it. Where the answer is 'nothing substitutes for this', we say so.

Clean Energy Council (Solar Accreditation Australia)

Grid-connect design and install accreditation

Requires: An unrestricted electrical licence, completion of the recognised grid-connect design and install units, and ongoing CPD to stay accredited.

Academy builds: Design intent, commissioning discipline and fault diagnosis to work behind the accreditation — not the accredited units themselves.

State electrical regulators

Electrical licence

Requires: A current licence in the state or territory where you work. Unlicensed electrical work is an offence.

Academy builds: Technical judgment applied within your licence. It is not a pathway to one.

Standards Australia

AS/NZS 5033 (PV array installation)

Requires: Array installation, earthing, isolation and labelling to the current standard.

Academy builds: Earthing and bonding, DC isolation, protection and labelling lessons in the electrical-install cluster.

Standards Australia

AS/NZS 4777.2 (grid connection of inverters)

Requires: Inverter settings, protection and export configuration to the current region settings.

Academy builds: Inverter behaviour, grid-protection trip interpretation, and export/limit fault diagnosis.

DCCEEW / Solar Victoria and state schemes

Rebate-eligible installation

Requires: Accredited installer sign-off and compliant documentation for the scheme claimed.

Academy builds: The commissioning and handover pack cluster — records that survive an audit.

Requirements change and vary locally. Confirm current requirements directly with the authority before you apply or take on work.

Why this works

Hands-on time teaches your hands. Graded labs teach the order.

Most technicians do not fail on knowledge. They fail on method — what to check first, and what never to touch until it is proven dead.

Local training gives you the hands

Terminations, mounting, meter handling and equipment familiarity are learned by doing them under supervision on real hardware. Keep doing that.

The labs give you the reasoning

Thirty marked scenarios tell you exactly where your reasoning cost time, safety or money — feedback a busy site supervisor rarely has time to give.

Evidence you can show

A certificate of completion, plus commissioning and handover documents you can attach to real jobs. A training credential, not a licence.

GSES — Grid-Connected PV Systems Design and Install

A$2,695

Self-paced online plus 2 days face-to-face

Includes: Accreditation-pathway units with a practical component

Does not include: Electrical licence, CEC accreditation fees, travel

PMV — Solar Grid Connect PV (Design + Install)

A$2,450 (Perth) / A$2,595 (Adelaide)

4 days

Includes: Face-to-face design and install training at a national training centre

Does not include: Electrical licence, accreditation fees, travel and lost billable days

EcoPowerHub Academy — Solar Technical Training

US$997 one-time

Self-paced, lifetime access

Includes: 16 modules, 30 graded diagnostic labs, four-stage hybrid capstone, commissioning and service report templates, certificate of completion

Does not include: Supervised site hours, hands-on equipment time, and the authority's own exam or practical assessment. It is not a CEC accreditation pathway.

Accreditation-pathway course prices are as published by each provider and may change. CITB/CTF subsidies quoted by providers are not included above. Figures last checked 14 August 2026; confirm current prices with each provider. These are different products — a licence fee, a mandatory safety course and a diagnostic training track are not substitutes for one another.

Questions

Solar training in Australia — FAQ

Is this a CEC accreditation course?
No. CEC / Solar Accreditation Australia accreditation requires an unrestricted electrical licence and completion of the recognised grid-connect units with a registered provider. This track builds diagnostic and commissioning judgment alongside that pathway.
Is the content aligned to AS/NZS standards?
Lessons are written around the practice those standards require — isolation, earthing, labelling, protection and inverter settings — and flag where the requirement is standard-specific. Always work to the current published standard.
Does it help with CPD?
Completion is recorded on your account with a certificate you can submit as evidence of training undertaken. Whether it is accepted for CPD points is the accrediting body's decision, not ours.
Can we enrol a whole service team?
Yes — multi-seat enrolments are invoiced in AUD-equivalent USD with discounts from three technicians upward.

Compliance statement

EcoPowerHub Academy training is designed to help learners meet, or closely align with, the knowledge and practice expected by the Clean Energy Council / Solar Accreditation Australia, your state electrical regulator, and AS/NZS 5033 and 4777. It is written against published requirements and current field practice, and is reviewed as those requirements change.

  • Completion does not guarantee a licence, certification, registration, or approval from any governing body. Those decisions belong to the authority, not to us.
  • Completion does not guarantee safe or correct field performance. You and your employer remain responsible for isolation, PPE, supervision and compliance on real work.
  • Where an authority requires supervised hours, hands-on assessment, or training from a registered provider, this track does not replace them.
  • Requirements and fees change. Always confirm current requirements directly with the authority before applying.
