How it works
SAPVIA administers the PV GreenCard programme and its endorsed assessment centres. EcoPowerHub Academy provides preparation training — we do not issue the PV GreenCard. A registered electrician and a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) under SANS 10142 remain legal requirements for installations.
What Is the PV GreenCard?
The PV GreenCard is a voluntary industry quality-assurance programme run by SAPVIA (South African Photovoltaic Industry Association). It functions as an as-built handover record for rooftop PV installations, documenting system design, components, and test results. Only certified PV GreenCard companies can issue a GreenCard. Doing so signals to clients, financiers, and wholesalers that the installation follows SAPVIA quality guidelines.

Legal electrical requirements
AC work (everything after the inverter) must be performed by a registered electrician. A wireman’s licence holder must issue a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) under SANS 10142. Certified PV GreenCard companies must operate as registered electrical contractors and employ a registered electrician together with an assessed PV GreenCard individual.

- Work on photovoltaic, battery, and electrical systems involves potentially lethal voltages and must only be performed by qualified persons, in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and employer safety programs.
- Labs and materials are educational. The technician and their employer remain solely responsible for safe work practices, isolation, PPE, and compliance on actual jobs.
