What a technician can do at the end
Every outcome below is assessed somewhere in the track — most of them inside a graded scenario rather than a written question.
- Walk a roof and a service panel and describe the whole system before touching a tool
- Run a site survey that the design team can actually build from
- Isolate DC, AC and battery energy safely, every time, with the right PPE and LOTO
- Commission a system to spec and prove it with measured, condition-corrected numbers
- Triage the faults that generate most service calls inside the first fifteen minutes
- Isolate advanced multi-symptom faults without shotgun parts replacement
- Run a professional service call from arrival to verified handover
- Close solar jobs cleanly in EcoService OS with defensible documentation
- Pass a full four-stage field assessment on a live hybrid system scenario
Core Foundations
System literacy and safety before anything else — naming every block of a live system, following the power through it, and proving isolation on DC, storage and AC.
01Solar fundamentals for field technicians
~45 minUnderstand how a PV system actually behaves before you touch anything: power flow, real production vs nameplate, and what normal looks like.
02Site assessment & system identification
~45 minArrive, correctly identify what is installed, read what the original design intended, and spot the red flags that make the job bigger than the ticket says.
03Installation sequence & best practices
~50 minThe correct order of operations, and why sequence mistakes turn into callbacks six months later.
04Safety, isolation & LOTO for solar work
~45 minIsolate DC, AC and battery systems properly, verify rapid shutdown, and approach the job so it never becomes an incident report.
Equipment Depth
How modern hardware actually behaves: inverter conversion stages and protection logic, module-level electronics, storage and battery management, and the conditions that drive fault codes.
05String inverters — operation & service
~55 minDiagnose and service string inverters with confidence instead of guessing at fault codes.
06Microinverters & module-level power electronics
~50 minWork effectively on Enphase-style and optimizer systems, where the diagnosis lives per module and the comms layer lies to you.
07Battery storage systems (AC & DC coupled)
~55 minSafely approach and diagnose residential storage: coupling architecture, BMS protection modes, and the complaints that are really battery behaviour.
08Monitoring systems & performance data
~45 minUse monitoring the way a senior tech does — to find problems before the customer calls, and to explain them once they do.
Commissioning & Real Diagnostics
Measurement that stands up — condition-corrected numbers, commissioning to spec, and structured fault narrowing on multi-symptom calls instead of parts substitution.
09Commissioning & acceptance testing
~55 minCommission a system so it can be handed over with measured proof that it works — and documentation that protects the company.
10First-line diagnostics — the 80% problems
~45 minTriage the handful of faults that make up most service calls, and know what to check in the first fifteen minutes.
11Advanced troubleshooting logic
~55 minSystematically isolate the faults that survive the easy checks — without shotgun parts replacement.
12Electrical measurements that matter in solar
~50 minTake the right readings, in the right conditions, and interpret them correctly instead of guessing at 'out of range'.
Service Excellence & Platform Mastery
Running a professional service call end to end: arrival, evidence, decision, verification, customer handover, and defensible documentation in EcoService OS.
13The professional service call
~45 minRun a service call end to end: arrival, customer conversation, diagnosis, repair, verification and handover.
14Documentation, warranty and liability
~45 minWrite the record that pays the invoice, supports the warranty claim, and protects you if it goes wrong.
15EcoService OS mastery on solar jobs
~45 minRun the whole job through the platform — dispatch, work order, Maya diagnostics, parts, photos, invoice.
16Capstone — full field assessment
~90 minOne real callout, four graded labs: work it safely, diagnose it, verify it, and document it like a senior technician.
How the track is graded
Labs ask for a decision, not a definition.
Scenario labs
Sequence, diagnosis, safety and checklist labs put you on a real call and ask what you would do first. Choices are weighted by diagnostic value; unsafe choices fail the lab outright.
Senior debrief
After grading, each lab explains what you got right, what would have been costly or dangerous, and what a sharper technician would have done differently.
Four-stage capstone
The final module runs one continuous hybrid-system scenario across four stages — arrival and safety, narrowing, decision, and verified handover.
Where EcoService OS fits
Training builds the judgment. The operating system is where that judgment gets applied cleanly.
EcoService OS is an operating system built for technicians. The call runs in sequence — arrival, site context, evidence capture, problem narrowing, decision, verification, handover — and every stage leaves a record behind. Photos and measurements attach to the asset rather than a message thread, customer communication is written rather than verbal, and follow-ups persist as records instead of intentions.
The final phase of this track is taught inside that structure, because closing a solar job with defensible documentation is a field skill in its own right — and because the same operational pattern carries over into HVAC and other advanced system work as technicians grow.
Safety and scope
Training scope and safety
- The Academy provides technical training and instructional scenarios only.
- Completion does not constitute a professional license, electrical certification, or authorization to work on live electrical systems.
- Work on photovoltaic, battery, and electrical systems involves potentially lethal voltages and must only be performed by qualified persons, in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and employer safety programs.
- Labs and materials are educational. The technician and their employer remain solely responsible for safe work practices, isolation, PPE, and compliance on actual jobs.
- EcoPowerHub AI / EcoService OS makes no warranty that completion of this training guarantees safe or correct field performance.
